Milpitas, CA - September 26, 2002 - Lightwaves2020, an innovative leader in the design and manufacture of fiber optic components, announces that its Liquid crystal (LC) based Variable Optic Attenuator (VOA) has successfully passed all required tests according to Telcordia TM GR-1221-CORE guidelines and is now qualified for central office application.
Compared with VOAs based on other technologies, the LC VOA is inherently more reliable and more resistant to external stresses since it has no moving parts. Beside the standard GR-1221 tests, additional tests such as office vibration (Per Telcordia TM GR-63-CORE) and power handling (up to 1W) tests are also included in this test program to verify the VOA's performance at end-user conditions. All test results confirm the excellent mechanical stability and environmental durability of Lightwaves2020's LC VOA.
"I am very pleased to see that another Lightwaves2020's product achieves this significant milestone." Said J.J. Pan, Chairman, CEO, president and founder of Lightwaves2020. "It is our commitment to design and develop cost effective products with high quality and reliability through technical innovation to meet today's market needs. The qualification of the LC VOA sets another example of Lightwaves2020's commitment to our customers."
